Equipment we service
Stryker Scope and Video Equipment We Service
The optics, the video chain, and the powered hardware that share a cart in most orthopedic rooms.
Arthroscopes in 30 and 70 degree views
Knee, shoulder, hip, and small joint optics. Bowed shafts from levering against a portal and cracked rod lenses from tray handling are the two faults that account for most arrivals.
Camera heads on the 1288 and 1588 platforms
Moisture ingress at the seal, color drift, dead pixels, and cable strain where the boot meets the head. Sealing and electrical safety are verified before anything is returned.
Endocouplers and focus assemblies
Couplers with a focus ring that slips, internal fogging, or a clamp that no longer holds the eyepiece square. A loose coupler reads on the monitor as a soft scope.
Fiber optic light cables
Bundle replacement and end face repolishing. Cables spend their life coiled tight on a cart, and broken fibers accumulate long before anyone calls the image dim.
Powered handpieces, drills, and saws
Pneumatic, electric, and battery hardware rebuilt to torque and runout spec, with chuck, collet, and attachment service on the same visit.
Shaver handpieces and rigid telescopes
Arthroscopic shaver drives with bearing wear or seal failure, plus the general surgery telescopes that share a sterilization load with the ortho sets.
What Independent Stryker Scope Service Actually Covers
Orthopedic rooms are hard on equipment in a specific way. Scopes get levered, couplers get dropped, camera cables get rolled over, and handpieces run hot through back to back cases. The result is a cart where three separate items are all slightly degraded and nobody can say which one is causing the complaint.
We take the whole cart. Optics, camera components, cables, and powered hardware are evaluated together, quoted item by item, and returned as the same assets you sent. Specialty Surgical Services is an independent repair provider and is not affiliated with, authorized by, or endorsed by Stryker. We claim no factory parts and no factory training. The manufacturer name is here to tell you what we work on, nothing more.
Everything else we cover is listed on the manufacturers we service page.
Arthroscope Repair for Knee, Shoulder, and Small Joint Sets
A bowed shaft is the signature orthopedic failure. It happens gradually, the image softens at the edges before anyone calls it broken, and by the time it is obvious the rod lens stack has usually taken a hit too. Straightening the shaft is only half the job. The relay has to be realigned and tested against a target afterward, or the device comes back the same way in two months.
That work sits inside our arthroscope repair service, part of the wider rigid telescope program. Every arrival gets optical inspection through the relay, seal integrity testing, and a straightness measurement before we quote.
Distal end damage is the other frequent finding. A starred or chipped objective scatters light and washes the field, which surgeons describe as glare rather than damage. Our cracked distal lens page covers how that is assessed.
Surgical Camera and Coupler Faults on Orthopedic Towers
Camera heads fail quietly. A seal lets go, humidity gets in during sterilization, and the picture takes on a cast that the room compensates for by adjusting white balance every case. Nobody logs it as a fault until it is bad enough to stop a case.
We service heads, couplers, and cable assemblies under surgical camera and video repair, and we test them attached to the scope rather than on their own, because that is the only configuration that reproduces the complaint. Illumination is checked at the same time through light cable service.
Power Equipment and Rigid Scope Work Under One Account
Drills, saws, and shaver handpieces are usually a separate vendor and a separate purchase order, which is why they tend to run degraded for longer than the optics do. Ours is the same account. See surgical power equipment repair for what a rebuild involves.
Orthopedic departments rarely run one manufacturer across every tray either. If your shaver drives and arthroscopes came from different makers, our Smith and Nephew arthroscopy service covers the other side of the room.
